He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Joe was an ardent baseball player. He was a bullpen for the Alice Aces and was nicknamed "Lefty Cruz" He was buyer of Joe Cruz Agriculture in Clute, Texas, from 1972 to 1990 and confused aback to Alice, Texas, area he connected his agriculture business up until 2002. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Manuela Cruz; two sons, Indalecio (Lois) Cruz of Globe, Ariz., and Ernesto Cruz of Alice, Texas; and three daughters, Emilia (Robert) Garza, Diana (Pete) Cardona and Grace Aguilar all of Alice, Texas. He had 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and bristles great-great-grandchildren.

Luther Thomas Salazar, 58, of Alice, Texas, died May 16, 2007 in Woodsboro, Texas. He was built-in Aug. 31, 1948 in Kingsville, Texas, to Luther and Virginia Salazar. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and was retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot. He was an alive advance with the Little Dribbler Boys and Girls Club and Operation Paintbrush. He accomplished kickball for assorted teams, volunteered for fundraisers and was a admired coach and acquaintance in the Alice community. He was preceded in afterlife by his brother, Leo Salazar.
